The BOBP-IGO and IUCN jointly organized the “National Consultative Workshop on Implementation of the BOBLME-II Project in India” (INCW-BOBLME) at Hotel Ambassador Pallava, Egmore, Chennai from 21-23 March 2024 towards implementation of the project activities in India. The specific objectives of the INCW-BOBLME are to prepare work plans for (i) Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM), (ii) Marine Managed Areas, (iii) Combatting IUU fishing, (iv) Reducing marine pollution from fisheries activities, and (v) Setting up of National Working Groups and coordination mechanism for the above-mentioned activities. BOBP-IGO and IUCN are executing the Phase II of the Bay of Bengal Large Marine Ecosystem Project (BOBLME II) during 2023-28 for the benefit of Bangladesh, India, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka.
