Fish Price Information Collection from the Fish Markets and Fish Landing Centres was one of the main Processes of the Fish Market Intelligence System (F-MIS) that SIFFS had paid adequate attention during the year. The pilot phase of the Fish Market Intelligence System funded by UNCTAD/MPEDA/SEAI started in July 2008.
The SIFFS market intelligence system continuously monitors several key wholesale fish markets in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, and publishes this information on this site. This monitoring system is aimed at equipping fishermen organizations to take business decisions on marketing of their fish.
There are nine markets (Bangalore - Karnataka, Tellicherry - Kerala, Calicut Central Mkt - Kerala, Changanasserry - Kerala, Paripally - Kerala, Pangode - Trivandrum - Kerala, Kaliakavilai - Tamil Nadu, Chindadripet - Madras - Tamil Nadu, Madurai - Tamil Nadu) and eleven landing centres (Mangalore - Karnataka, Rameswaram - Tamil Nadu, Beypore - Kerala, Munambam - Kerala, Cochin - Thoppumpadi - Kerala, Neendakara - Quilon - Kerala, Chinna Muttom - Kanyakumari - Tamil Nadu, Tuticorin - Tamil Nadu, Nagapattinam - Tamil Nadu, Cuddalore - Tamil Nadu, Royapuram - Madras - Tamil Nadu) being monitored presently.
